Of the hundred or so books about Abraham Lincoln gracing bookstore shelves right now, I'm digging into Doris Kearns Goodwin's Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. It's a hefty book but one I've been anxious to delve into for a few months now.

On the last Friday of each month, I head over to Maira Kalman's NY Times blog, "And the Pursuit of Happiness," to check out her latest post about American democracy. Kalman's illustrations have been a great creative inspiration to me over the years (you may recognize her work featured in the recent edition of Strunk and White's
The Elements of Style). Back in February she posted a fantastic piece about Lincoln. I recommend checking it out.
