I love weddings. Especially the weddings of good friends and family. This past weekend we were lucky enough to celebrate the wedding of our friends Jim and Maggie. It is wonderful to see happy couples surrounded by their families and friends, celebrating the beginning of the next phase of their lives.

One of my favorite parts of attending weddings with Charlie occurs during the reception. No matter if the parents of the bride and groom are people we've grown up with our whole lives, or parents we've never met before, Charlie tracks down the parents of both couples at some point during the evening and personally thanks and congratulates them. I love this. Sometimes we do it together, other times I will scan the room and see him expressing his heartfelt thoughts to the mother and father of the bride. It is such a joy to see the parents of the bride and groom on the big day. They are happy, proud, and overwhelmed with relief that everything has come together. This weekend it struck me how crazy it must feel to see your children married, the children you raised now stepping out to begin their own families. Pretty incredible.
